The main objective of the Google sheets AREAS function is to get the number of areas in a reference. So, you able to return the number of areas in a provided reference with the help of the AREAS function. So, when we use the formula = AREAS((A1:C1, A2:C2)), the return value will be 2. In case you want to use multiple references, they should be enclosed in the extra set of parenthesis.
